We did say that we were Starting Small, Thinking Big and it’s been quite a journey watching our thoughts materialize.
It began six months ago when our founders – Sahana Athreya and Edha Singh – sent out a survey. They wanted to see how many people they knew that crocheted or could knit or stitch. That survey was what got the ball rolling. We did start small.
But now, we’re here – six months later – to truly take a moment to see how far we’ve come and update our readers on some of our newest ventures.
For starters – the Share A Square team is expanding with new posts and new additions to the team :
We have a new collaboration team to help tackle all our joint initiatives and join forces with other great people and teams to work on projects like ‘Saturday Knit Live’ – which is our interview segment on Instagram Live. Every Saturday from 8-9pm we meet up with our contributors and other volunteers to talk all things SAS. What can we say? Be There or Be Square.
Along with additions to our social media and marketing teams, we have also gathered new volunteers and promoters.
Expanding our reach is incredibly valuable to us. The more people we reach – the more weight our mission holds. That being said, we are so glad to announce that Share a Square is now international! We have officially expanded to Texas and Cyprus and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come!
And we’re really happy with how things are going – we have now collected 600+ squares and got our first few blankets stitched together by local tailors.
We have also conducted fourteen successful SAS webinars helping contributors that don’t know how to crochet, knit or stitch find their footing and navigate foreign ground. Our webinars are a really cozy place to be if you’re looking to pick up a new activity with friends, while also supporting a good cause.
There truly is a lot to look forward to and a lot to look back on. Even though it’s been only six months, we’ve seen exponential growth and it’s all thanks to our hardworking team and contributors.
